If you have no idea where you're going - it takes a lot longer to get anywhere
What I hope to do with what follows is to help newbies get to doing nicer pieces sooner than they might otherwise. Some simple Rules of Thumb for proportions, some knowledge of curves and tangents and some awareness of aesthetics can act as guiding sign posts for a newbie turner's journey and may help with the trip to the next satisfying milestone on the path.
