 DSL Troubleshooting Tips

Once your DSL line has been installed, if you lose your Internet connection, here are a few simple steps you can take before calling our technical support team.

  • If the Network Interface Card (NIC) in your PC has an LED, verify that it is lit. This is a small light next to where your network cable is connected to your computer. This indicates whether or not your NIC is seeing the digital modem or bridge device and the network. If the light is not lit, there is a problem either with the physical cable connecting the DSL modem to the NIC, an improper connection, or problems with the NIC.
  • Verify that the digital modem is powered on. Take note of the lights on the front of the digital modem or bridge device, they are an indicator to the status of your line.
  • Power off the digital modem or bridge device, count to five then power it back up. This will reset the connection between the modem and the DSL service.
  • Finally, reboot your PC.
