To setup your DSL connection with Internet America, you need a Network
Interface Card (NIC). This setup process assumes you have your NIC installed
and setup on your computer. Refer to your NIC's manual for instructions on how
to do this. The following instructions should help you get up and running.
- First, we recommend you disable AppleTalk. This is a protocol that is
normally used for Local Area Networks that are not connected to the
Internet. When you are using your ethernet card and the TCP/IP protocol, you
want to disable AppleTalk, because the Appletalk protocol will broadcast
over your DSL line and your performance will suffer. If you absolutely have
to have Appletalk enabled, it is recommended you setup a router that can
filter out the AppleTalk protocols over the DSL line. You can contact Apple
here for more information.

- Click on Apple Menu -> Chooser.

- In the bottom right corner of the Chooser, put a dot next to
Inactive, then close this window.

- Click on Apple Menu -> Control Panels ->
TCP/IP.

- In the Connect via drop down list, select Ethernet (or
possibly Ethernet built-in.
- In the Configure drop down list, select Manually.
- In the IP Address box, type the IP address that was given to you
by Internet America.
- In the Subnet mask box, type the subnet mask that was given to
you by Internet America.
- In the Router address box, type the gateway IP that was given to
you by Internet America.
- In the Name server addr box, type 209.237.0.8.
On the next line, type 207.5.0.40.
- In the Search domains box, type hypersurf.com.
- Just to be safe, reboot your computer.
You should now be setup to connect to the Internet!
