To setup your DSL connection you need a Network Interface Card (NIC). This setup process assumes you have your NIC installed and setup on your computer. Refer to your NIC's manual for instructions on how to do this. The following instructions should help you get up and running.

Start Menu
  • Click on the Start Menu, then choose Settings, then choose Control Panel.

    Control Panel

  • Double-click on the Network icon.

    Network Control Panel

  • The components that SHOULD be installed under the Network Control Panel are as follows:
    • Client For Microsoft Networks
    • Name of your NIC Adapter (this will vary depending on what brand of NIC you have. A common one is NE2000 Compatible for example)
    • TCP/IP -> Name of your NIC Adapter
  • If you do not have the TCP/IP protocol installed, you can install it by clicking Add -> Protocols -> Microsoft (left side) -> TCP/IP (right side), and click OK. (It might ask you for the Windows 95/98 CD or floppies at this point).
  • Double-click on the TCP/IP for your ethernet card, then click on the IP Address tab.

    IP Address Tab

  • Put a dot next to Specifiy an IP Address.
  • In the IP Address box, type the IP address that was given to you by Internet America.
  • In the Subnet Mask box, type the Subnet Mask that was given to you by Internet America.

  • Click on the WINS Coniguration tab.

    WINS Config Tab

  • Select Disable WINS Resolution.
  • Click on the Gateway tab.

    Gateway Tab

  • Make sure there are NO gateways already listed under Installed gateways. In the New gateway box, type your Gateway IP Address which was given to you by Internet America, then click Add.
  • Click on the DNS Configuration tab.

    DNS Config Tab

  • Select Enable DNS.
  • In the Host box, type ia.
  • In the Domain box, type hypersurf.com.
  • For DNS Server search order, type 209.237.0.8, then click the Add button. You can also enter in our Secondary DNS server, 207.5.0.40 with the same process.

Click the OK button, then click the OK button again. It will now ask you to restart your computer, go ahead and let the computer restart. When it comes back up, you should be online with DSL!
